The reason a bee swarm looks like a clump of bees, is because all of the workers are gathered around the queen, hence forming a clump. ... Meanwhile, 'Scout bees' will be sent out to look for a suitable new place for the colony to live.
If you see a bundle of bees on your structure they may be looking for a place to move in. If you see this give us a call and we can remove them quickly, safely and humanely before they make a home in your structure and start building honeycomb, which when left can be a much bigger task to remove!
